Restoration of natural environments in the Pyrénées-Orientales

Plots of meadows in St-Cyprien

The first restoration work on plots of meadows purchased by CEN Occitanie as part of the project has begun. These natural hay meadows behind the coast are subject to a strong urbanization pressure. It was then a question here of securing the site with the clearing of access and the installation of solid barriers for the breeder who will come to make hay and thus avoid damage. In this same location, the monitoring in control areas was carried out in one of the mown meadows which is in a good state of conservation. The monitoring was also carried out on an area to be restored which had been overgrazed by horses. Restoration will be done by stopping grazing and re-mowing.
